Book Award Announcements

This morning, the American Library Association announced the winners for their Youth Book Awards. Here are the winners for the Young Adult Awards: The Schneider Family Book Awards honor an author or illustrator for a book that embodies an artistic expression of the disability experience for child and adolescent. This year's winner is Somebody Please Tell Me Who I Am by Harry Mazer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Stonewall Award honors a book about the LGBT community. Teen Review: "Chopped" (Television Show)

Chopped TV Show Review By J. H. Chopped is an interesting show on cooking.  It is on the Food Network Channel & new episodes are shown on Tuesday nights at 10 pm.  Four chefs compete against each other to win $10,000.  There are three rounds : appetizer, entree and dessert.  In each round they are given a basket with four mystery items.  They then cook a dish using those ingredients as well as whatever they would like in the "Chopped" pantry/fridge.  The dishes are judged on taste, creativity and presentation.  There are three judges per show & these judges are well known chefs.  At the end of each round,  the judges choose the chef who did the worst job and they are sent home.  The chef who is still there at the end of the dessert round wins the money and is crowned "Chopped Champion."      Chopped is an exciting show that is also educational.  It teaches you how to cook and use your imagination.  The ingredients are often weird and would
